ESKOM PROVIDES 95% OF SOUTH AFRICA’S ELECTRICITY, BUT IS IT ENOUGH?

Independent Power Producers only generate a fraction of South Africa’s electricity.

An Independent Power Producer (IPP) is an organisation that produces electricity independently and sells the electricity to the power utility. In South Africa ESKOM then manages the distribution of this electricity.

A critical variable of successful IPP’s is their ability to produce electricity efficiently at a competitive rate.

IPP’s are important because their projects are smaller and hence are often quicker to implement. This quick turnaround time means that IPP’s will be the answer to the current energy crisis.

Barloworld Power supply Cat Gas Engines with very high efficiencies that make them an attractive solution for Independent Power producers.
